Each great period in history has left its mark in the region. At Boscodon
there is a Cistercian abbey demonstrating a completely Cistercian rigour and
purity. At Embrun, the cathedral is recognised to be one of the most beautiful
of the Gothic monuments.
La Vallouise is filled with churches and chapels combining stone and
wood, a care for elegance and simplicity. Briançon offers, still in this area,
some beautiful buildings : the church of the Cordeliers, the convent of
Recollets and Notre Dame cathedral.
