Les Frères Silvain, artisan nougat producers by nature
The Silvain nougat company is a family business but also a conviction. The quality of the product depends on the authenticity and the flavour of its constituent ingredients.

“We can claim to master the fine art of nougat production, because we are first and foremost local people. Making nougat means making the most of the raw materials we have grown and produced for generations”. This is Pierre Silvain's creed. The Paysans nougatiers trademark registered fifteen years ago earned them a few smart comments but the renewed renown of their 100% local products today makes them pioneers and is contributing to their success.

 

This is because making nougat requires “plenty of almonds and plenty of honey”, which come direct from land owned by the Silvains, who are the sixth generation of the family to farm in the Haut Vaucluse. In total, they own twelve hectares of almond trees and 150 beehives which produce lavender honey which is ideal for the production of the Christmas delicacy.

They are the fruits of a harvest which our nougat producers would like to continue to develop in situ. The objective is to continue to delight French and foreign food lovers while also helping to boost the region’s economy and public profile. “It is the attention people pay to the needs of the land which will give this local trade back its prestige”.
  
 
Philippe and Pierre Silvain are artisan nougat producers and confectioners, and offer the public guided tours of their workshop and soon – they hope – of the almond fields. “Trees arouse people’s curiosity and for a number of years interest has been building again”, which is good news for these lovers of the countryside who have given almond cultivation a new boost and would like to share their passion”.


Because the Silvains are first and foremost local people!

The shop is open every day from 10am until noon and from 3pm until 7pm.
