For long-distance hikers, the region has several walks forming part of the
"Grande Randonnée" (GR) network. Through the Verdon, the Massif d'Estérel, the
Ubaye, the Lure mountain, the Ecrins & The network is immense. Ramblers
wishing to top up their batteries for a day - or even half a day - have not
been forgotten either : a great number of minor walks (Petite Randonnée) are
also available.
Most of the walks and itineraries are described in topographic guides.
Nevertheless, to enhance your discovery of nature or conquer the Alpine
summits, hikes can be organised with accompanying tour guides.
Finally, "gîtes d'étape", refuges and hostels welcome exhausted walkers
when night falls.
